Prepare and print tournament reports

Use Tournament → Reports to review and print an operational matches list, tournament statistics, or a list of accepted participants. Reports present current tournament data for checking and distribution; they do not record match outcomes, assign final places, or publish a tournament snapshot.

Use Match results to review completed scheduled matches and correct a result from Draws. Use Results to record official final places and tournament points. Publication is a separate workflow and is not part of Reports.

Open and print a report

Open Tournament → Reports.

  1. Select Matches list, Statistics, or Participants list.
  2. Check the report data and any available filters.
  3. Select Print.
  4. Review the system print dialog.
  5. Select a printer, or choose Save as PDF if your operating system and print backend provide that option.

Tabminton requests printing from its browser window. It does not provide a separate built-in PDF exporter. The available printers, PDF command name, and print settings depend on the operating system. When saving as PDF, the system dialog asks for the file name and location; Tabminton does not choose either one.

Check the printed layout

The print version hides report controls, the app sidebar, and tournament navigation. It uses A4 portrait pages with 1.5 cm margins.

Table headings repeat on later pages. The layout tries to keep each table row together and tries to keep each report section on one page. A long section can still continue onto later pages. The final pagination can differ from the on-screen report because the operating system, print backend, printer capabilities, scaling, and font rendering affect the result.

Every report document shows the tournament name, tournament dates, and Generated time for the current view. This time is not a fixed creation date for a saved file. Reopening a report or changing its filters can produce a different time.

Use Matches list for an order-of-play style view that can include both assigned and unassigned actual matches. It does not include virtual matches from Draft.

The report is divided into scheduled date sections followed, when applicable, by Unscheduled:

  • Scheduled matches are grouped by the date in their scheduled time. Dates appear from earliest to latest.
  • Within one date, matches are sorted by scheduled time and then by court name.
  • Unscheduled appears after all date sections.
  • Unscheduled matches are ordered by event category. Round-robin matches in the same category are ordered by tour from lower to higher. Playoff matches in the same category are ordered from the later bracket stage toward the earlier stage. Event name is the next ordering value.

Each row contains Time, Court, Event, Round, Entries, and Score. Round shows the draw name and, when available, the round-robin Tour N or playoff stage such as Quarter final, Semi final, or Final. An unresolved side is shown as TBD.

The winning side is shown in stronger text when a winner is recorded. Score displays the stored set scores in side order and emphasizes the higher score in each set. A match without stored sets has a blank Score cell.

Filter Matches list by date and event

When the page first loads, all available scheduled dates and all tournament events are selected.

  • Open Dates to select several individual dates. The available dates come only from scheduled time, not actual start or actual end.
  • Select an event button to include or exclude that event.
  • Select None when every event is selected to clear the event selection.
  • Select All to restore every event after one or more events have been cleared.
  • Clearing all events produces no report rows.

Unscheduled is included only while all available scheduled dates are selected. Selecting only some dates hides all unscheduled matches, even though an unscheduled match does not belong to any date. If the tournament has no scheduled dates, Dates remains at All dates and eligible unscheduled matches can still appear.

The report header lists the selected event names. If the filters produce no rows, the page shows No matches match the selected filters.

Understand Matches list scope

Matches list combines the current scheduled and unscheduled match lists:

  • The scheduled list contains matches with a scheduled time and excludes automatic bye walkovers.
  • A scheduled real Walkover, such as a recorded refusal or no-show with both sides present, can remain in the report.
  • The unscheduled list contains matches without a scheduled time, except every match with status Walkover.
  • A completed match without a scheduled time can therefore appear under Unscheduled when its status is not Walkover.
  • An automatic bye is excluded whether or not it has a scheduled time.

These rules mean that Matches list and Statistics do not necessarily describe the same set of matches.

If the combined scheduled and unscheduled lists contain no available matches, the page shows This tournament has no matches yet. and does not show report controls. This can also happen when the tournament contains only excluded automatic byes or unscheduled walkovers.

When matches exist but filters hide every row, Print remains available. The system print dialog can therefore open for a page containing only No matches match the selected filters. Clear or correct the filters before printing an order of play.

Use Statistics for a match-count and player-participation summary. It has no user filters.

The report contains Summary and By event. Both separate Players from Matches:

  • Players contains Entered and Participated.
  • Matches contains Played, Walkover, Retired, and Total.

By event includes every tournament event in its configured order, including events whose values are all zero. The final Total row uses the tournament-wide values.

Understand Statistics calculations

Statistics uses only the scheduled match list. Unscheduled matches do not contribute, even when they are Finished or Retired. Automatic bye rows are excluded because they are not part of the scheduled list, while a scheduled real Walkover can be counted.

Match values are calculated as follows:

  • Total counts every match in the scheduled list, including Scheduled, Ready, Live, Finished, Walkover, and Retired.
  • Played counts only Finished matches.
  • Walkover counts Walkover matches separately.
  • Retired counts Retired matches separately and does not add them to Played.

Player values use two different sources:

  • Tournament-wide Entered counts registrations with status Accepted.
  • Entered for one event counts unique players in that event’s actual entries.
  • Participated counts unique players who were on either side of at least one scheduled Finished or Retired match.
  • A Walkover does not make either player Participated.
  • Tournament-wide Participated counts each player once even if the player participated in several events.

Tournament-wide Entered and event Entered can therefore differ. A player can have an accepted registration without an entry. Conversely, an existing entry can remain after its registration changes to Rejected or is removed. The event columns count the players in those entries, while the tournament-wide value counts accepted registrations. Event values also count the same player separately in each event, whereas the tournament-wide value counts a player once.

Print is unavailable only when both the scheduled match list and the complete registration list are empty. It can remain available when the report contains no accepted players or no counted matches, for example when only Pending registrations exist. Check the visible values before printing.

Use Participants list for an alphabetical list of registrations with status Accepted. Registrations with status Pending or Rejected are not shown.

With both filters set to All, the table contains Last Name, First Name, Club, and Events. It is sorted by last name and then first name. A missing club is shown as .

Events comes from the player’s actual entries, not from registration status alone. An accepted player without an entry remains in the complete list with no event badges.

Filter Participants list

  • Use Club to select one saved nonblank club value. Matching is exact.
  • Use Event to include only accepted players who belong to an actual entry in that event.
  • Set either filter to All to remove that restriction.
  • When both filters are selected, a player must match both.

An accepted player without entries appears when Event is All but disappears when a specific event is selected. If an expected event is missing from a player’s row, check the event entry; an accepted registration by itself is not event membership.

Selected filters are printed in the document header. When a specific club is selected, the separate Club column is omitted because every row has that club. When a specific event is selected, the separate Events column is omitted because every row belongs to that event.

If no accepted player matches the filters, the report shows No accepted participants yet. and Print is unavailable. Clear one or both filters and check the registration and entry data.

Refresh report data

Each report loads its own view of the required tournament data when you open that report route. Changes made to matches, registrations, or entries on another screen do not have to appear automatically in an already open report.

To refresh reliably, return to Tournament → Reports and open the report again. Recheck the filters after reopening it.

Fix common problems

Matches list says the tournament has no matches

Generate actual matches on Draws. Remember that automatic byes and unscheduled Walkover matches are excluded from the available scope.

Unscheduled is missing

Select every available value under Dates. Unscheduled is hidden whenever only a subset of scheduled dates is selected. It is also absent when no eligible unscheduled match exists.

A match is missing from Matches list

Select its event and its scheduled date. Date filtering uses scheduled time only. If the match has no scheduled time, select every available date so Unscheduled is included. An automatic bye or unscheduled Walkover is outside the report scope.

Statistics is lower than expected

Compare it with Planner and Draws. Statistics ignores every unscheduled match, while Matches list can include eligible unscheduled matches. Played also excludes Retired, which has its own value.

A walkover did not increase Participated

This is expected. Only a scheduled Finished or Retired match makes its known players participated. Walkover is excluded from that player measure.

An accepted player is missing from Participants list

Set Club and Event to All. Then check that the registration is still Accepted. A specific event filter also excludes accepted players who have no entry in that event.

An event is missing from a participant

Check Tournament → Entries. The report uses actual entries, not acceptance alone or a Partner Wanted request.

In Participants list, clear filters until at least one accepted player is shown. In Statistics, both the scheduled match list and the registration list are empty when the button is disabled. In Matches list, the controls are absent when its combined source lists contain no available match.

Matches list prints an empty message

Matches exist, but the selected dates or events hide every row. Print remains available in this state. Restore the required event and dates, then check the report again.

The system dialog does not offer PDF

Use an available printer, or check the operating system’s print and PDF features. Tabminton cannot add a PDF destination that the system print dialog does not provide.

Printed pages differ from the on-screen report

Check the print preview, paper size, scale, margins, printer settings, table wrapping, and page count. The report requests A4 portrait and 1.5 cm margins, but the final output also depends on the system print backend and printer.

Before you continue

  • Clear or review every report filter.
  • Compare matches with Draws, scheduled assignments with Planner, completed outcomes with Match results, and participants with registrations and Entries.
  • Review the system print preview before printing or saving.
  • Check portrait orientation, table wrapping, repeated headings, and the number of pages.
  • Do not publish or distribute a report until you have checked the personal data it contains.
